A lot of that code may be executed once or zero times so volume alone is not everything but the trend seems clear. Kevin Weil in that interview also says that OpenAI and others are having a lot of success training models on private data and for specialist areas (like coding). I think that will be huge next and seriously disrupt multiple specialist areas like coding. Once RL can be given a reward function (or a model approximation) it will literally eat your lunch. I'm an older software engineer at the end of my career so may be overly pessimistic but I think coding itself will rapidly change to suit AI tooling displacing most human programmers with only a few experts (AIs?) researching advanced computer science and specialist AI models.    See Less

I’ve seen the hype around Lovable, apparently magical tool for non dev. I was really excited about it and I had a few friends that wanted to start a new venture try it. It does stuff, but it introduces an endless amount of hard to find bugs, that overall you question if the total effort was really less than doing it with professionals.
We have seen this announcement every 3 weeks since 2022, we got from 60% to 80% today, the last 20% will take likely 1 years.    See Less
