I don't think you should trust a deceptive or scamy corp. like OPEN AI. Their end goal is in the dark, and so are their methods.
I just cannot see the necessity of such a device, the smartphone is already something ubiquitous. Why on earth would a specialized software device compete alongside a universal device?
I stopped watching this video after 2 minutes. It was just waffling and wasting my time. Just spite it out and get to the point.
This is stupid. There is nothing this device can do, that wouldn't be more convenient for your phone to do.
This is ultimately very stupid and a waste the time. Your phone is better Don't fool for the AI hype. It's all BS.
Can I not take an extra 5 seconds to open an AI app on one of my 2 "core devices"? I need a 3rd "core device" in my pocket that is always aware of me, what I am saying, a     See More

This device is at best, a trivial time saver. At worst, it is an unprecedented invasion of privacy that consumers should flat out boycott so that it is DOA. That being said, as long as Sam Altman doesn't go full Elon, the hogs will eat the slop.    See Less
1. OpenAI’s Ambitious AI Device Project
00:00:03 - Strategic Acquisition and Vision: OpenAI made its largest acquisit     See More y purchasing Jony Ive’s hardware startup IO for $6.5 billion, aiming to develop a completely screenfree AI device designed to reduce phone usage rather than increase it.
00:01:03 - Collaboration Between Visionaries: The partnership between Sam Altman and Jony Ive combines AI leadership and legendary design expertise, focusing on creating AI-native devices that are not wearable like glasses but serve as a “third core device” alongside laptops and phones.
00:03:07 - Device Characteristics and Market Strategy: The device will be pocket-sized, contextually aware, screenless, and aims to ship 100 million units rapidly, representing a potential new category in consumer electronics with secrecy maintained to avoid competitive leaks.
2. Current AI Device Market Landscape and Challenges
00:06:47 - Past Failures and Lessons: The humane AI pin and Rabbit R1 exemplify early AI gadget failures due to technical limitations, high prices, poor user experience, and battery life issues, highlighting the challenges in making AI devices practical and desirable.
00:09:53 - High-End Attempts and Market Reception: Apple Vision Pro’s advanced technology faces criticism over its prohibitive $35,000 price tag, reinforcing that even premium tech must balance cost and usability for mainstream success.
00:11:25 - Incremental Wins and Industry Trends: Meta Ray-Ban smart glasses and Google’s Android XR platform show promise by integrating AI subtly into familiar form factors, indicating a path toward smoother AI adoption.
3. Emerging AI Hardware Trends and Future Outlook
00:12:57 - AI Integration in PCs and Ambient AI: A major shift is underway with nearly half of PCs expected to have AI-dedicated chips by next year, enabling faster, more private AI processing locally, and setting the stage for ambient AI assistants embedded throughout everyday environments.
00:14:31 - Edge-Cloud Hybrid AI Models: The future of AI devices relies on a hybrid approach where local devices handle routine tasks quickly, while complex queries are processed by powerful cloud AI, ensuring responsiveness and intelligence without compromising privacy.
00:17:07 - Privacy, Regulation, and Design Evolution: Increasing legal scrutiny and data privacy concerns will drive on-device AI processing as a competitive advantage, while design will blend fashion and technology seamlessly, making AI devices discreet and wearable as personal style statements.
4. Business Model Shifts and User Experience Priorities
00:19:12 - Subscription Models and Monetization: AI hardware is expected to follow software’s subscription dominance, bundling AI usage with hardware sales and upselling premium tiers, similar to the gaming console model, to sustain ongoing revenue.
00:20:13 - Three Pillars for Success: Future AI devices must combine fast local AI speed, scalable cloud intelligence, and fashion-grade wearability to be genuinely useful, intuitive, and seamlessly integrated into daily life.
00:21:15 - Learning from Failures: OpenAI and Jony Ive recognize that successful AI gadgets require world-class user experience and infrastructure, avoiding the pitfalls of previous devices that failed due to clunky design or poor ecosystem support.
5. Potential Features, Risks, and Market Impact
00:22:49 - Killer Features and AI Use Cases: Imagined applications include multimodal grocery assistants, real-time personal memory recall, and seamless language translation, demonstrating AI’s potential to solve practical daily annoyances.
00:24:23 - Technical Challenges: Battery life, heat dissipation, and pricing remain significant hurdles, with overheating devices and high costs risking user discomfort and limiting accessibility.
00:25:56 - Privacy Concerns and User Control: Devices that are always listening raise privacy red flags, requiring transparent data control to gain user trust and avoid product failure.
00:26:27 - Market Timing and Consumer Readiness: Growing comfort with AI interaction and widespread phone fatigue create a ripe environment for introducing less intrusive AI interfaces, potentially redefining the smartphone’s role.
00:27:28 - Industry Disruption and Competitive Pressure: A successful OpenAI device would force major players like Apple, Google, and Meta to accelerate their AI hardware strategies, igniting a new race in AI consumer technology development.
