It's ONLY fair-use if FIRST you're paying for say a team membership as that doesn'     See More enAI on your data - so if you're actually using fair-use (which is an ethical framework), then it's fair-use, if that data trains companies - it's not fair use it would then be stealing.

I believe AI needs restrictions, but the problem no-one will talk about are how restrictions would hurt those who use AI to bypass barriers others don't have, like people assume you can't learn from AI or something, but if you're fact-checking sources you ask it for, then in the end you still end up with the truth...    See Less

Stuff on the radio sounds all the same because a relatively small number of song writers writer for pop (or insert your genre here) stars. The stuff on Suno was becoming incredibly novel for a brief period where it could do full songs well but most people hadn't realized that yet. There were brit rock songs about the Christmas after an alien invasion, or a group devoted to doing fantasy songs about characters in a fictional fantasy village, a weird zombie pet song, etc. In both subject matter and style, there was a ton of variety... And now it's really popular, and it sounds like generic electronica and pop. Just. Like. The. Radio.

So, getting creative tools into the hands of a larger group of people who are highly motivated to explore will give you lots of diversity. Giving it to the masses will give you lots of noise, so much noise that original pieces become hard to find again. This is my fear, and it's already true on X. X is straight up difficult for authors to use for the purpose of connecting with real people and keeping up to date with relevant news because its soo full of bots and spam marketers using ChatGPT to create fake conversations in the hopes that their advertising will be mistaken for a personal recommendation.

Unless we find ways to use AI to filter out the crap as effectively as spammers produce it, we're toast.    See Less

I love the podcast. My hot take is, the issue with AI slop is, for every novel ai vid you are watching, is time you are not spending watchinhg something that was human made. If ai slop can b     See More d on mass, 10000 ai vids to 1 not... well you can easily extrapolate, that if its really just down to novel ideas.. well then, the audience time for human created works (not generated by models) will drop to numbers where investors wont see it worth investing money in. Goodby human generated industries. I think the scary thing people forget is, ai slop doesnt have to be better than all human film/tv to completely collapse the industry, it probably only needs to be better than half before it collapses. (if there's less viewers, theres less investment, less investment, less risk, less content, less novel ideas, less work for the crews/humans. More people watch ai slop and the cycle continues)    See Less
